2011 Bah! Humbug! # 1

The Bah! Humbug! Christmas Challenges are back! WHOO HOO!
The theme for our first challenge for 2011 is  

Holly and/or Fairies

... and there is a fabulous prize on offer for one lucky random entry so it's got to be worth having a go hasn't it?    We also have a brand new Guest designer who has 2 beautiful cards to share and although I know you're just dying to know who it is, I'm not telling you ... you'll have to go and see!  
Our fellow Humbugger Irene is unwell at the moment so she's sadly unable to join in this time,  but Ann and I hope she will be back with us very soon 'cos it's just not the same without her work up there too.
Anyway ... getting back to challenge #1
I chose the Holly theme and created this card using some gorgeous gold foiled card from Kanban which was layered with some rich green textured card matted onto gold mirri card for a classy look.

 The Holly, berries and wreath shape were cut using a Marianne Creatables die set and some pretty green and gold ribbon adds a little more luxury to the inside back panel of gold mirri card.  If you'd like a closer look at the fabulous foiling, then just click the images.

Bah! Humbug Challenge 9 - Cool Combo

Last week's challenge at Bah! Humbug! produced another amazing selection of cards and we were treated to some superb variations of stitching and 'faux stitching' as we browsed the entries.  The winner of those cute Hero Arts Clear Stamps has been announced today along with the theme for our new challenge this week so don't forget to check and see if it's you.
We decided to 'up the ante' this week and Challenge 9 asks you to create a Christmas card or project which combines 3 or more of our previous challenges. 
Ooooooooooooooh - aren't we just too wicked?
I managed to incorporate all of our previous challenges ... whoo hoo! ... so am feeling pretty clever and have awarded myself a virtual gold star. 

Here's my wee checklist ...

• new stash - Mistletoe c/bug folder on gold mirri
                 - Daisy and Dandelion background paper
• glitter - everywhere!
• baubles - on the Christmas Trees

  Can't wait to see what you all come up with this week!  I just KNOW you're going to rise to our challenge admirably.

Bah! Humbug! Challenge #5 - Holly

February is always a busy month for crafters in every corner of the globe because, of course, we have Valentine's Day to celebrate on the 14th.
On a personal level, it is also a month jam-packed with birthdays and celebrations for my friends and family, so I'd hoped to be much more organised than I actually am at this point.  Hmmmm ... Do you detect a recurring complaint here LOL?!
Not to worry ... I'm kick-starting my February crafting with this card for our Bah! Humbug! Christmas Challenge #5.

Irene decided on "HOLLY" as the theme and as it's the first challenge of the month, there is a lovely prize on offer for one lucky random entry!  You've got to be "innit to winnit" so get yourself over there sharpish and join in 'cos 
"... it could be YOU!"
Time restrictions has meant that my sample card is very simple this week. 

I used another of my new Cuttlebug Christmas embossing folders, (an exclusive set from Oh My Crafts), on a piece of smooth white card and then cut around the wreath with decoupage snips. 

This was then mounted with foam pads onto 2 layers of pretty white and gold holly background paper matted with gold mirri card. 
The background paper has a lovely soft pearlescent sheen which the camera is just not picking up, but trust me when I say it is quietly luxurious in real life.
A greeting is placed across the centre of the wreath and that's that! 
Job done!
No ribbons ... no gems ... no glitter ... no ink ... no colouring ... no fuss.
